Last week I had the opportunity to go on the West Palm Beach Food Tour. I have lived in South Florida for about 14 years, and there is so much to see and do especially in Palm Beach County. Now that I'm working in West Palm Beach, I had the opportunity to experience this food tour. Believe it or not, I had only been to 1 place out of the 6 we were visiting.
The first spot, which was also the meeting spot was Ailoi, which is a day time cafe/bakery, specializing in freshly baked bread and locally sourced ingredients. We started with homemade lemonade and a tartine on the best sourdough bread.
Our next stop was Hullabaloo, which is an Italian gastropub. I thought it had a really cool hipster vibe. We enjoyed bacon brussel sprouts (Which I didn't eat), pesto bread and a chicken meatball which was A-MAZ-ZING. Both of the dishes we had have been featured on The Food Network.
The 3rd stop was Dr. Limon, which is authentic Peruvian cuisine. We tried 2 types of ceviche, which was super out of my comfort zone. I found out ceviche isn't my favorite but it was such a fun experience to try new things.
4th location was Salento Coffee, a Colombian coffee and espresso bar. We got to have a demonstration of how Tinto Coffee is made. Then we got to taste it! I am not a hot coffee girl, but this changed my mind completely, it was delicious! It was served with pandebono which is cheese bread, which was really good and so soft!
2nd to last was Ganache Bakery Cafe, whose owner, Jamal Lake has won awards and even been on food network. Ganache is known around town for the best key lime pie, and let me tell you it does not disappoint, it was THE BEST KEY LIME PIE EVER! I have had a lot of key lime pie living in Florida for so long, and this is definitely #1.
Last stop of the day was The Blind Monk, I enjoyed a virgin Prosecco Mojito, we were also served a Cubano, which I didn't eat. But the drink was so refreshing especially because it was so HOT out!
Overall, I had a really great time, learned a ton of new things, and highly recommend doing this if you are visiting West Palm Beach or are even a local.
