Favorite Apps - Social Media Edition

I get asked quite frequently which apps I use to edit, make stories and just use in general for my social media and my blog. So I am going to share the apps that I use every day, not just for my personal social media, but social media accounts that I manage.

We all know about the social media apps (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) so I'm not going to go into those, as we all use them, but I'm sharing apps to help with your social media game.

Repost, this is an app I don't really use on my personal account but I use it a lot on other accounts that I manage. It helps share other people's content. It is free but will have a little watermark on the photo, which I actually like so you can make sure the creator gets all the credit, but you can pay to have it removed. If you have a business, you want to make sure you are sharing content people are making for you.

Boomerang, Yes I know you can do it on Instagram but I think the quality is a bit better when you take the boomerang straight from the app. But remember boomerangs aren't just for Instagram! I don't use boomerang a lot personally but I use it a lot for other accounts, it's a great way to show off a product and some fun and movement to your feed.

Unfold, this is my favorite app for editing and designing my stories. It is free but there are also paid options. I use this app for about 70% of my stories. It is really easy to use and has tons of different templates. I have purchased a few different template packs as I like to keep changing it up.

Retouch, (also known as Touch Retouch) I have a rule with myself that will never retouch my body. (I break it sometimes because pimples are not cute, and no one wants to see them) But if there are people in the background, or stain on your shirt, something on the wall behind you that isn't cute, you can just get rid of it, it isn't as good as photoshop, but this takes only a few seconds and is very user-friendly.

Lightroom, probably one of the most popular editing apps out there. You can use pre-made filters that the app provides, buy filters from your favorite creators or edit from scratch which is what I do. I like all my photos to be super bright and saturated which is what I can do on this app. The app is free to download but like I said you can buy filters for your favorite creators.

Duo Mobile, if you do not have this, GO INSTALL IT NOW. It is a two-factor authentication app, that protects your Instagram account from hackers. Instagram has almost no support, I know quite a few people who had popular accounts and had to restart everything because they got hacked and there was no way to get it back. Don't be one of those people.

Canva & Canva Stories, great for creating images, and good for helping your insta story game. Has a ton of free presets and if you wanna get really creative you can start with a blank canvas.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I plan on sharing more of my social media knowledge with you!

Your internet bestie,

Essentially Ellie J
